25th June National and Midland Champoinship Update

Shelsley 15th July where has the summer gone. With the course in practice looking more like the Annual Shelsley River Run the competitors faced difficult conditions. Unfortunatley for us water in the works stopped play before the end of practice.

Harewood 2 wins to Scott Moran 2 2nds to Martin the race continues to the summer break in the Channel Islands.

The championship standings :- 1st Scott 140points, 2nd Martin 127points, 3rd Roger 125points. Still a long way to go so which way will it go?

25th June National and Midland Champoinship Update

Prescott 24th June where has the summer gone. Practice was dry for the morning befor the monsoon arrived in the afternoon. Race day was little better with rain in the morning and showers in the afternoon. The 1st runoff was wet for all but the aftenoon showers provided a mix of conditions and as a result mix of cars for the 2nd runoff. All competitors gave an entertaining event, with special mention going to the Motorbikes, their performance in the top 6 runoff at the end of the day was spectacular with sparks flying on a drying track. Photos to follow shortly ......

Doune went to the hands of Mr Groves with 2 straight wins and a record. The challenger Scott Moran had to settle for 2 seconds with a record for the duration of the runoff until bettered by Martin. This keeps the championship alive and kicking, onward to Harewood on the 8th July.

The championship standings :- 1st Scott 120points, 2nd Roger 109points, 3rd Martin 109points. Still a long way to go so which way will it go?

3rd June Shelsley Walsh "Its mine, it yours, its mine, its yours, its mine, ITS MINE"

Wet weather washed the Gurston event away so the gauntlet was raised once more at the Power Hill of the Midland "Shelsley Walsh". A new track laid down over the winter months proved to be both good and bad, with a number of accidents in the tricky "Top S" section of the hill. Hopefully all of those drivers and their cars will be back out at future events.

On the good side the new surface proved to be gripy with numerous track record falling. Notably the ladies record to Sue Young with a sub 25sec run. the quote of the day though has to be "Its mine, it yours, its mine, its yours, its mine, ITS MINE" with the epic battle going on between Martin Groves and Scott Moran. With each run the Hill record fell and the victor at the end of the day was Scott with a run of 22.83 seconds at the close of the meeting to clich the win and the record once more.

A win apiece and records taken by both competitors the champinshp lead rests with Scott. Photos and the points to follow shortly.

27th May Gurston Down

Rain, rain, rain rain. It seems that the April showers requested for April have all arrived at once. Race was abandoned after some of the first runs were completed due to dangerous conditions.

Two rounds to be taken from the 2007 championship.

12th & 13th May Barbon Manor & Harewood

Wet weather made conditions tricky for all competitors at the weekend double header events. Scott took 2 wins a 2nd and a 6th place after sliding in the damp conditions. Martin Groves was consistent as ever with 2 wins and 2 2nds.

The gap in the championship narrows as a result with the championship tied between the father and son Moran Machine and Martin Groves hot on their heels. The points difference is now 5 points but with 28 of the 34 results counting consistency will be the winner. At this time its leaning towards the Groves camp, time will tell.

6th May Prescott

Martin Groves took wins at both rounds recovering some of the points lost at Loton when championship contender Scott Moran had a spin in the Esses in the first round, he later recovered to get a second place in the second run off.

The event was an action packed with a number of spinning Caterhams in Ettore´s possibly caused by the light dusting that the course was subjected to as competitors clipped the circuit edge around Orchard. One of the said Caterhams gave most apologetic "Sorry chaps" to the marshals. Later in the meeting Sandra Tomlin had a big off at Ettore´s, the Marshals it should be said responded very quickly. Hopefully all is ok and we will see her competing at the next event.

9th April Loton Park

Double down for Moran Jr.

First event at Loton provides a boost to this years campaign for a title contender and last years runner up Scott Moran. Last year he showed us what was possible to achieve and this year he is out to prove a point and achieve the goal that was so near.

The first event is always a telling time and with most of the opposition still not awoken from their winter slumber these points may prove valuable at the end of the season
